On September 28, 2019 members of Pop Up Youth Radio, a project of Yollocalli Arts Reach, transformed The Block Museum lobby into an on-air studio, broadcasting live from the Pop America 1965-1975 exhibition opening.
Wattz Up! is a weekly radio show on WLPN 105.5 FM Lumpen Radio. Broadcast live from Studio Y in Little Village, Chicago on Saturdays from 12-2pm, the program features “youth-produced talk radio, fresh jams, and lots of lolz.” The talented students have the ability to take the show on-the road and we were thrilled to welcome Merie Meraz, Emmanuel Ramirez, and Nine Valle with Gerry Salgado on audio controls. The group spoke with Corinne Granof, Academic Curator at the Block, Eric Gasca of Instituto Gráfico de Chicago, Lisa Corrin, Block Museum Director and the musical group Trío Calavera: Jaime Garza, Luis Fernando Amaya Muñoz and Camilo Rincón

Yollocalli Arts Reach is the award-winning youth initiative of the National Museum of Mexican Art. Its mission is to strengthen the value of youth art and culture by providing equal access to communal, artistic, and cultural resources that allow youth to become creative and engaged community members.
